I think forex is more difficult since you really need to know the macreconomic factors to see which currency is strong/weak.

For stock market, there isn’t much of a learning curve. I basically keep myself updated with all the financial news and study the line graph chart of a particular stock on google finance to see good entry points.

Here are the advices for trading. Buy low and sell high. Always try to buy when there is a bear rally or a down day. And not really on an up day unless the point you buy is still at its low.

Also, even if you see that the stock might be going up and you think you might be missing the opportunity…don’t worry…chances are…stocks go up and down…so you might be able to buy it at the price you want. Don’t try to chase after the stock.

For short term, when you see a decent profit, take the profit and get back in once the price of the stock drops.

The thing I don’t like about forex trading is that the previous times when I knew there was an opportunity to make money, it was impossible to obtain the currency I needed. There was the devaluation of the Argentinian currency that happened a while back. They had been keeping the currency pegged to the US dollar and there was an enormous amount of speculation that it was going to be devalued (allowed to float), yet I couldn’t find anywhere to sell this currency since it never moved more than a few PIP up and down within a day. Then there was the Chinese currency. Everyone knew they were keeping the currency undervalued and that it would increase in value upon floating, yet again I could not find anywhere to buy this currency in exchange for USD. I contacted a bank and they had some ridiculous spread (something like 15%-20%), yet again it was impossible to capitalize on something I knew was going to happen. Both of these situations were extremely frustrating. Let me tell you, a $2500 investment in either one of these situations would have made you tens of thousands of dollars. The Argentinian currency went from 1:1 USD to 3:1 USD in a matter of 2 weeks. Now that’s a devaluation.

Considering the timeframe you are trading, I don’t understand why you are referring to a an exit at 1.1006 “which looked like an important resistance”.

It looked like recent resistance was ~1.1055 and sloping upwards.

I would have tried to ‘trade the range’ of it coming down to ~1.1055 and having hat as a ‘buy on stop’ or not had any exit order in place, in the hope there was significant weakening due fundamental events (of which there are many these days).

That last post was lame. Suburbans are legendary for their reliability, especially the GMCs. Although, 165K is a lot of miles for any vehicle.
Unfortunately, the gas sender is probably bad which is in your gas tank. The easiest would be to replace the pump assembly which would cost around $150 + labor for new. Maybe $50 from a junk yard + labor.
It is a few bucks, but take a minute and look under your GMC and see how it’s built like a tank compared to some toyota. Remember that when you’re driving your 4 children around town when it snows.

That said, value investing is bit of a redunancy. When you are investing, you are ALWAYS looking for value! Trading is either speculating or just what it is, trading, with a whole different methodology for seeking profit. The banks are the ones making the big bucks off your trading by charging commission or market makers making money on the spread with their profits often dependent on the volume they trade with little concern for the financial health of a company.

There will always be lots of money to be made in value investing. That’s like asking if there will be money to be made in business. Except the beauty of investing is that you let other people do the hard work, you just have to have the capital and assume some of the risk.

The only people that make money on forex are the bank trading rooms for foreign currency conversions and trading. I’ll be real honest with you. Managed accounts are okay but you can do much better if you spend the time studying the market yourself and learning the trading discipline.

Think of it this way, a managed accountant is not risking his own money, he’s risking yours.

You could spend 6 months trading demo accounts, reading technical analysis books, etc. And learn the techniques yourself and do much better than a managed account.

Conservatively with forex you could make 5-10% per month. Using a well developed software tool 20-30% is easily acheivable. Best of luck to you.

USD, JPY, CHF and EUR have been the strongest currencies in the past 1 year while GBP, CAD, AUD & NZD have weakened a bit. Overall, JPY & USD are the strongest in terms of absolute gains.

1. Firstly I would like to tell you that nobody could predict the market. Therefore Elliot waves together with some other technical indicators are very useful when you are making analysys for enter/exit point

2. All currency pairs are good. Some of them have higher volatility and some lower volatility. Usually traders are trading with several currency pairs that they like.

3. As you have noticed leverage could be as profitable as detrimental. For that reason traders use money risk management rules. The main rule is don’t risk more than 2% of your trading funds, which is rule No.1.

4. Rule No.2 – Listen and follow the market. Trend is your friend.

5. Rule No.3 – Don’t listen experts. They are paid for their speech. If their forecasts are so successful why they don’t trade themselves? Trading is much more profitable than salary for making forecasts.
